Frequently asked questions

Below you will find the most frequently asked questions regarding our products. Please take a moment to browse the questions below and if you don't find what you are looking for then please drop us a line and we'll get back to you ASAP.

Q. and the taste of the unflavoured?
A.there are many differing ways of describing foods and their flavours and so I will quote from the spec sheet we were sent by our current supplier. ‘A very bland taste and flavour. This means it’s ideal for you to add flavouring of your own (we recommend that you add a sweetener to bring out the flavour). Contact us for flavouring suggestions.Or check out our soon to be added suggestions section.

Q. What does it look like?
A. Yellowy white. There will be some variation between batches but generally speaking as all milk based powders do. We do not add anything to the product - no stabilizers, no binders, nothing. All these could affect both taste and appearance.

Q. How much is 5-10 or even 15 kilos (33lb)?
A. A lot! Some customers have emailed me and said 'its humbling' - yes 'Humbling'. Ever seen a 10 kilo bag of rice in a wholesalers - 15 kilos is bigger than that. You'll need to clear some room in a cupboard. You will actually be able to consume the same amount that your favourite pro says he is using - 200-600 grams a day plus the food derived protein. Don't let the amount put you off. Check out other companies 1-kilo etc prices and do the math - you're svaing a small fortune.

Q. How many servings in a 15-kilos (33lb or 3 x 5 kilo tubs) ?
A. Loads - ha! Industry averages are 25 grams a serving/scoop this equals 600 servings. Go to 50 grams a pop and you have 300 servings and 100g equals 150 servings. Two large 100g servings a day and you'd have enough whey for 75 days - that's a lot!! If we take the average price as being £15.00 - £30 a kilo and your using up to 200g a day a kilo lasts 5 days or £225.00 to £450.00 plus P&P for what you paid (currently) £95 p. Hmm... makes you think eh??

Q. Why don't you say how many servings your tubs have?
A. Cos, as before, of the industry average of 25grams. I for one would need a darn site more than 25g of protein every time. Using 25g doesn't allow for your needs or goals. Using 1g per lb bodyweight I'd need 252g of protein per day. Allowing for a typical 70-90g of protein per day from food I'd need 162-192 of protein from supplemental sources. At three drinks a day I'd need more than 25g a time - more like 60g+ And those figures allow only for my current size - not if I want to lose or gain weight. So.. that's why :D

Q. What about the flavoured whey?
A. I’ll let you tell me what you think. We offer, for now, Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Banana and my fave – Wildberry. The market for the flavoured whey proteins is also so competitively priced that we have to insist on a 10-kilo minimum. It is a blend of instantized WPC and our usual mix. It averages 80 percent protein.

Q. Steve, I've been waiting ages for my delivery, what's happened?
A. Ok, like a lot of the companies in the industry we rely on the courier to deliver when he says he will. We use a 72 hour service meaning that they 'promise' to get it to you within 3 days. Many get their products the very next day, which is awesome. However, the few that do not almost always fall foul of the 'there was no one in to sign for it' problem. Surprisingly enough if no one is at home it gets returned to the depot. I ask that you get the package sent to your house - if there is someone always in - work - the gym or some place where you know that there will be someone available within working hours (8am-6pm) to sign for the package. That way we will do our best to make sure you get yours goods asap and you'll be about to collect. Job done. As per elsewhere we normally do one big order per week but can, on occasion, do more if needed. Our main dispatch days are Monday's and Thursday's.

Q. Why don't you do 'next day delivery'?
A. Simply put because you pay for it. We have a lot of competition whose prices are so very close to ours - never quite hitting the mark, but close just the same. Then they add delivery... Like many Governments so called hidden taxes this adding on of delivery is a real killer and pushes their prices from 'so near' to 'but so far'. It is a possibility in the future but in order to keep our prices down and for you to keep saving money I'd suggest ordering when your down to your last kilo or so.

Q. What has been added to the whey?
A. Other than the flavoured whey every item in our line is sold to you as is. We have not added, either in house or before we get it delivered to us, any sweetener, flavouring, thickner, binder or filling agents. Some customers of other companies products, esp those which have been flavoured, will find some flavours cause upset stomachs or gas. The addition of some additives, while enhancing so-called 'mouthfeel' (hmm rich and creamy) does also affect the nutritional profile and slows down the digestive process. If you want to slow down the process add some ground oats.

Q. When will you do blends?
A. Not for some time. Other sites other, for a cost, blends of proteins and belnds of proteins and carbs. Feel free to mix up your own by buying what you need from us and saving yourself more than a few quid for a service you can do at home in minutes.

Q. £20.00 for delivery? I thought it was free?
A. For UK mainland buyers delivery is included in the price. It isn't added as an extra like some sites. The current set up we have here is that until you choose, from the click down menu, the 'UK/mainland' or 'overseas' option it will show the £20.00 delivery charge. As soon as the correct option is made it will either be added - for overseas orders, or cleared - for UK / mainland orders. For overseas orders, esp those within the EU and more so if yours is a large order it may be better to email steve@wheyconsortium.co.uk for a quote before ordering.

Q. Can I return my order?
A. Due to the nature of our business we cannot offer refunds unless the container has not been opened. If you have not opened your package then you may return the package within 7 days and we will give you a replacement, credit note or a full refund. Both the sales of goods act and distance selling regs apply. Please note: if an item is refused (ie: someone who is meant to sign for it on your behalf does not do so) and it comes back to us we incur a fee. The fee is made up of the cost of delivery AND the return cost. With ALL bulk whey companies charging very low prices and relying on volume for profiy we cannot afford to absorb the costs. Therefore any refund issued will be less the precise amount we are charged by our carriers. With effect from 17th May 2007.

Q. What happens if I miss a delivery?
A. It is your responsibility to ensure that someone will be available to accept delivery of your order from us. If the item cannot be delivered and gets returned to us and is the fault of the customer (e.g. gone on holiday, flat mate not mentioning that a delivery attempt has been made etc. etc.) then the customer will have to pay the re-delivery fee. Profits on our products are small and we pay for the item going out AND again if it's returned. Re-sending more or less wipes out any profit we make. However, when either we or our carriers (usually DHL) are at fault we absorb the loss.

Q. Overseas orders / Northern Ireland
A. Baring in mind my previous comment I have to use this panel to advise the overseas customers that the £20.00 shipping charges is an estimate at best and that we MAY need to charge more as appropiate. However Northern Ireland buyers please read - we've finally been given a decent quote and orders to Northern Ireland are only £5.00 above UK mainland prices - so dive on in (based on a typical 5-kilo order). Contact us via email for payment methods (do not order through the site).

Q. Items damaged in transit
A. As our business grows so does the few items that are damaged by our carriers. As you'd imagine we have sent out many 1000's of parcels and average less than 0.5 percent as damages. However, if we send our 1000's of parcels of low cost protein it still adds up. In order for us to be able to help you (in accordance with the sales off goods act and, where it applies, distance selling regs) we need the items to be checked as soon as is possible (on delivery ideally). We then normally arrange to have the damaged goods collected and replaced. Occasionally helpful customers will take digital pictures of the items, boxes etc.

Q. If you have problems with your cards when making payments see below for a tip or two
A. The most common problem is where your transaction is refused when the Post Code (so-called CVV by the banks) which is registered with the card doesn't match the one you're asking for your goods to be delivered to. You need to enter the billing address (the address where the credit or debit card bill goes to) and then untick the box and enter the delivery address - if different from the billing address together with the CORRECT post codes for both. As many of our customers are students you may want to use a home billing address AND a halls of residence or similar. Any further problem please ring and give your telephone number clearly and if I am not able to take your call I will ring you back and take a transaction over the phone. Each and every transaction is important to us.

Q. Steve I'm putting in the right details but it's refusing my card...
A. See the above question as well but... I've been told that sometimes the system wont accept the post code being in the a ddress panel as well as the post code panel. So double check all address info - be that the billing address and or the delivery addresss (if different). I'm pretty sure that 9/10 when a card is refused it isn't that there is a problem with the card. As always please ring if need be - if I'm not about to reply then leave a (clear please - repeated if need be)number and I'll call you back asap.

Q. What days do you send items out on?
A. Up until now, early August 07, we've been sticking to Mondays and Thursdays and asked for a 4.30pm deadline. However, during the floods here in Gloucester at the end of July we were able to change collection timings with DHL our carrier. We are currently using a 2.30pm pick up (approx) on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. As before if you want a fast turn around get your orders in at least an hour ahead of the dispatch time, make sure your address is correct or use one that someone will be in when they drop off. 60+ percent are still getting next day delivery even though we use a 72 hour service.
